It seems like only yesterday we found ourselves announcing the next film of JANE EYRE and SIN NOMBRE director Cary Fukunaga. He’s on board to direct Idris Elba in BEASTS OF NO NATION, which, in fact, WAS announced yesterday (comedy). But a good director should always line up their work if they want to be keeping busy, and that’s exactly what Fukunaga is doing.
Fukunaga is set to direct a recent Dreamworks acquisition, NOBLE ASSASSIN, based on a book proposal by Paul Kix. It must be a fairly intriguing story if it has yet to hit hardback form. The early bird gets the worm I suppose. Produced by Anonymous Content, the upcoming film (and book) will follow a French aristocrat during WWII, who becomes a Nazi-saboteur and an ally of the British Special Operations Executive. Fukunaga will take on NOBLE ASSASSIN after BEASTS OF NO NATION, which he should jump onto soon, having recently wrapped on his TV show TRUE DETECTIVE. He’s also developing Stephen King’s childhood destroyer IT, into two films.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
