‘Pompeii’ Teaser Trailer Erupts

GAME OF THRONES’ Kit Harrington stars as an enslaved Celtic gladiator in Paul W.S. Anderson’s action packed, romantically charged, Mount Vesuvius special effects extravaganza, POMPEII. Harrington’s character falls in love with a a lady above his station in the lead up to the eruption that wiped Pompeii from the maps. Real-life event, romance, unfathomable disaster. This sounds as though it will follow some of the same beats as TITANIC, and such a notion is enforced by the ballad that comes in towards the end of this teaser. But it also looks as though Anderson will be giving us action first and dramatics later, as though he specialises in that field or something.

I must admit, the chance to see an epic eruption on screen (easy tiger) is quite the attractive prospect, especially when gladiator battles and chariot races look to be interspersed throughout.

POMPEII is released  21st February 2014 in the US and 28th February 2014 in the UK. It stars Kit Harrington, Emily Browning, Carrie-Ane Moss, Paz Vega, Kiefer Sutherland, Jared Harris, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.
