Robot Serial Killer Short ‘ABE’ To Slice In Feature Length Film!

More and more short filmmakers are finding their exciting and original projects snapped up by eager studio chiefs looking for the next big thing. Following the footsteps of Andrés Muschietti’s MAMA, British director Rob McLellan’s brilliant and eerily intense short film ABE is to get the full-length treatment. ABE is the story of a well-meaning futuristic robot servant who is programmed to love his ‘human family’. Unfortunately, it sees ABE struggle with the emotions he’s feeling and he soon turns to serial killing.

Visual effects artist McLellan has sold the rights to a feature version of the promising concept to MGM, who will develop the project with Kevin Misher and Steve Tzirlin producing. It’s likely to be an origin story building up to the events seen in the short 8 minute film. I’m excited. So should you! Check out the film below.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
