Factions Introduced In ‘Divergent’ Featurette

We finally got a first look at the trailer for big-screen adaptation of Veronica Roth’s dystopian YA novel DIVERGENT over the weekend. The film stars Shailene Woodley as Tris Prior, a girl struggling to find her place in a future where people are now divided into distinct factions based on their personalities. She discovers she’s very unique in not having yet having found one – that’s a “faction” and not personality (although we’re still unsure about that having yet to see the film. After all, very few in the derided YA franchise TWILIGHT had one).

Anyway, we have a brand new featurette looking at each of the distinct groups these individuals will find themselves in. Tris must learn to hide the fact she’s a person able to think for herself before she’s classed as a DIVERGENT and the target for destruction against the evil authorities.

DIVERGENT opens in theaters on the 21st March 2014 and co-stars Theo James, Kate Winslet, Ray Stevenson, Mekhi Phifer, Maggie Q, Jai Courtney, Miles Teller, Zoë Kravitz, Ansel Elgort, Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Ben Lamb, Christian Madsen, Amy Newbold, Ashley Judd and Tony Goldwyn. Neil Burger directs.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
