English actor Tom Hiddleston has revealed some dark secrets about upcoming superhero sequel THOR: THE DARK WORLD in an interview with MTV. Hiddleston describes the film as:
‘A rollercoaster… full of ups and downs and loop-de-loops and twists and turns. It will take you to places you haven’t seen before’.
So what can we expect from this fantastically twisty adventure? Taking a break from being the villain after THOR and THE AVENGERS/AVENGERS ASSEMBLE, this time round Hiddleston’s character Loki, the Norse god of mischief and trickery, will team up with his god-of-thunder brother Thor (Chris Hemsworth) to fight off Christopher Eccleston’s Malekith the Accursed and his army of Dark Elves:
‘They have an ancient, ancient grudge against Asgard and against the reign of Odin, and they’re back’, Hiddleston says.
But don’t expect Loki to become all goody-goody. Hiddleston elaborates:
‘Loki has a very complicated relationship with Thor. He is an agent of chaos without equal in the world he inhabits. He knows his true nature. He knows he doesn’t belong in the family of Asgard, and he’s locked away in the beginning of the film in the deepest, darkest recesses of the dungeon as public enemy number one’.
Joss Whedon has announced recently that Loki will not be returning for the Avengers sequel AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, with James Spader being confirmed as the titular villain. When asked if his character will return post-DARK WORLD, Hiddleston commented:
‘I do feel like there’s some unfinished business between Loki and the Hulk,” he said. “I feel like he didn’t get a fair fight. Who knows, you’ll have to see what happens in ‘The Dark World’ to find out where Loki finishes up’.
THOR: THE DARK WORLD stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins and will arrive in cinemas on 30th October.
