Jared Harris is a popular man at the moment, following his casting in Guy Ritchie’s THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. he has also just landed a role in the Sam Raimi produced POLTERGEIST remake. Harris is known for his work in RESIDENT EVIL: APOCALYPSE, SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS and most recently in THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: THE CITY OF BONES.
The film will follow a Eric Bowen and his family who decide to relocate for a fresh start after losing his job, shortly afterwards Bowen’s daughter Madison is kidnapped by a supernatural spirit that forces the family to work together in order to rescue her. By the sounds of it the films plot won’t stray too far from the 1982 hit original film directed by Tobe Hooper, which still remains one of the highest grossing horror films date.
In the remake, Harris will play a character named Carrigan Burke who is described as an eccentric television personality who hosts a programme called ‘Haunted House Cleaners‘. He joins Sam Rockwell as Eric Bowen and Rosemarie DeWitt as his wife with Gil Kenan directing and Sam Raimi producing.
With filming expected to begin by the end of the year further casting announcements are imminent and with no release date officially set, the film could arrive as early as fall 2014. We will keep you posted with any further updates.
