Fantastic First Trailer & Stills For Jose Padilha’s ‘RoboCop’ Remake

THN were lucky enough to catch the first ever footage from Jose Padilha’s forthcoming remake of 1987 sci-fi classic, ROBOCOP, at San Diego Comic Con. Myself and our chieftain Paul Heath were quite stunned at how impressive it looked, and it certainly gave a unique and refreshing spin on Paul Verhoeven’s ultra-violent take of the doomed Detroit cop Alex Murphy. Now we have that first ever trailer and you can judge for yourselves!

In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

    Looking good.
I’m always willing to give reboots a chance; the trailer looks pretty generic, but there’s enough going on here to make me interested.
