Two More ‘Riddick’ Movies On The Way?

Vin-Diesel-The-Chronicles-Of-Riddick-Wallpapers

The third movie in the RIDDICK franchise was released today in the United States and on Wednesday here in the UK, and while we’re yet to see any official figures for the movie yet, we’re hearing via First Showing that there may be two more movies left in the franchise yet. Director David Twohy told the website the following:

“I don’t want to make back-to-back Riddick movies, but neither does Vin. Nor do I want to wait eight or nine years between Riddick movies [laughs] because I don’t want Vin to be playing this when he’s my age. So I’ll probably do one other movie first and then come back and we’ll pick it up and do another. I imagine there’s probably two more movies in the franchise.”

The director also did an interview with fellow US website Screen Rant, where eleborated on said statement…

“I think it’s good that we are looking at ending the series so it doesn’t feel like an open-ended thing, like we’re doing it just for monetary reasons and we’ve just got to keep rolling it over and rolling it over. I think there’s a real end to this and I know what that last movie looks like. The real question is: is it like a two-parter rather than a one-parter? So I think we’re both thinking the same thing, that there’s two more movies in the series.

I know what that movie looks like, I’ve talked it out. It has all the right notes, it’s a great movie. The real question is: what do you do before you get there? Is it a voyage through the Necromonger universe? Do you have to earn the right to return home by some trial of fire? That’s what we’re talking about doing. Perhaps.”

The buzz around the new movie RIDDICK, is generally positive and even we gave it a pretty good three stars, however I’m yet to see it personally so won’t pass up any judgement of my own until I do, however if the numbers come in for the movie tehn I hope Universal put some weight behind the franchise just like they did with their other big Diesel property, THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS.

Hit the links for more. We’ll bring you more news as we get it, and of course update you on the box-office for the film over the weekend and into next week.
