Although director Roland Emmerich has previously stated that Will Smith would not return for the planned INDEPENDENCE DAY 2, he has revealed in recent discussions that the actor may potentially be involved.
Emmerich says:
‘I sometimes say no, Will Smith will not be in it because he didn’t want to do it at first. Now we have a meeting planned, we want to talk about it again. Anything can happen.’
It is unknown whether Smith will accept the role considering he has said he wants to seek out more ‘danger’ in his projects, but of course this will all depend on the offer he is made. If Smith says yes, he will join confirmed stars Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum. Coincidentally this turnaround comes in the same year that Smith experienced one of his biggest flops to date.
