Emma Watson has been confirmed as the lead role in the adaptation of Emma Forrest’s 2011 memoir YOUR VOICE IN MY HEAD. She’s been taking on more adult roles since the end of the Harry Potter franchise and her next project will see her battling bipolar disorder, the death of her psychiatrist and the breakdown of her relationship – pretty serious stuff from the actress. The memoir has been described as insightful and unflinchingly honest in it’s portrayal of Forrest’s battles and was a NY Times bestseller. Forrest herself has penned the screenplay which was included in Hollywood’s Black List.
Originally on board to direct was David Yates who, having worked with Watson during HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS, signed her to the project. However when Yates dropped out due to scheduling issues Watson was replaced by Emily Blunt. Now Watson is confirmed onboard with a new director Francesca Gregorini (THE TRUTH ABOUT EMANUEL) also confirmed.
Here’s what the film’s right distributors had to say about the project and casting of Emma in the role
“We are incredibly excited to be working with Emma Forrest as she is one of the most sought after writers right now. Her story is intensely personal, with moments of humor just at the right time. Starting her career so young and literally growing up in front of us, Emma Watson has established herself as a sophisticated and talented actress. She is perfect for this role.”
Filming is expected to start in November 2013 with a proposed release date in 2014. Also due out in 2014 for Watson is Darren Aronofsky’s biblical biopic NOAH starring Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly and her PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER co-star Logan Lerman.
