Jeremy Irvine

British actor Jeremy Irvine has joined Michael Douglas vehicle THE REACH which will see them head out into the American desert together. Based on the 1972 novel Deathwatch by Robb White, Douglas will play a successful hunter who receives a rare permit to hunt in Californian desert and hires a college student to help him locate his prey.  The adventure takes a dark turn when Douglas accidentally kills a man and won’t report it which turns him into a bit of a monster who ends up trying to kill his companion.

The film will be shot in New Mexico commencing later this month with Jean-Baptiste Leonetti set to direct the screenplay from Stephen Susco whose previous writing credits include horrors TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D, THE GRUDGE and THE GRUDGE 2.

Irvine made his debut on the big screen in Steven Spielberg’s WARHORSE and has followed it up with teen weepy NOW IS GOOD and Mike Newell’s adaptation of GREAT EXPECTATIONS.  His latest movie, THE RAILWAY MAN, screened at the Toronto Film Festival over the weekend and will be released in the UK in January 2014. Last month it was announced the actor would star in the latest YA adaptation making the rounds; FALLEN.  Michael Douglas has been off our screens for a few years but started his comeback this summer alongside Matt Damon in Steven Soderbergh’s take on Liberace BEHIND THE CANDELABRA.
