‘Pirates Of The Caribbean 5’ Delayed

Captain Jack Sparrow pirates of the caribbeanIs this the day for… … delays? Earlier we announced that THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF ASHES has officially been delayed, and it also looks as though Disney have delayed the production start date, and therefore the release date, of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5. Originally penciled in for a 10th July 2015 release date, it appears as though the film will sail into the uncharted waters of 2016. This explains the jump from November 2015 to July 2015 for the release of another Disney property, ANT-MAN.

The official word is that the writers want more time on the script, which is probably for the best after the lackluster fourth installment. But more cynical rumours suggest the failure of THE LONE RANGER is causing budget cuts and reassessments. Luckily, Disney not only have ANT-MAN in 2015, but also THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, Pixar’s INSIDE OUT, and STAR WARS EPISODE VII, so perhaps they should let somebody else have a go at the box office in 2015. Other contenders that year include JAMES BOND 24, BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN, and JURASSIC WORLD. It’s gonna be a big one.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, producer Jerry Bruckheimer had this to say:

We have an outline everyone loves but the script is not done.

And when asked if the budget was the real reason, he replied:

It’s all a factor. We want a script that everyone’s signed off on and a budget that everyone’s signed off on.

Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg will direct from a script by Jeff Nathanson.

His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
