It’s not even 2014 yet but we figured it’s a perfect time to share the news that the TERMINATOR is due to return in July 2015 to the big screen for its reboot. Why an iconic brand is already due this is sensibly unknown but logically it can set itself for a whole new franchise.
We’d like to think it’s an artistic twist on the story and who can knock progress but, at this stage, it’s a strange concept. However, it’s all due to happen and we’re expecting a whole new trilogy from Paramount that’s kick off on July 1st, 2o15. I suppose the advantage of calling a date so early is that you hope to grab the big Sci-fi spot for the summer and hope it all goes according to plan.
According to our various sources, the only other definite at the moment for that summer is an animation from Illumination Entertainment who are the talented souls that gave us the world of DESPICABLE ME. I wouldn’t rule out a Minions movie but for the older market a Terminator restart would be the big box office pull.
So, time to guess at a title? TERMINATOR BEGINS? ANDROID OF ALUMINIUM? TERMI COMES HOME? I think probably none of these but we’ll wait to see what Alan Taylor’s (THOR: THE DARK WORLD) Terminator can bring with a script from Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier.
