Ben Affleck Finally Speaks About Batman!

It may have caused a major casting backlash from the fanboys but now that the news has had time to sink in, maybe Ben Affleck ain’t such a bad choice as the Caped Crusader. Well, that what the Oscar-winner and Warner Bros. will be hoping. So, while promoting his upcoming role in Brad Furman’s gambling thriller RUNNER RUNNER on ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’, Batfleck has finally spoken about donning the cape and cowl in Zack Snyder’s still-untitled MAN OF STEEL sequel.

It’s so awesome, I’m so excited. They called me up and said ‘do you want to do this’, and I’m like, ‘I’m not 25 man are you sure?’. So they said to come down and we’ll show you what we’re doing, and it was incredible. Zack has this incredible take on it… Obviously we can’t do what Christian (Bale) did, those movies are amazing, so he wants to do something different but still in keeping with that.

We also have the video below to show Affleck’s obvious passion about the project, which the host Fallon gets around to asking at 1.40.

The Superman/Batman project is slated for cinemas on the 17th July 2015 and will so far co-star Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

The backlash was not only from the fanboys but from film enthusiasts as well. The Fleck isn’t exactly celebrated for his acting skills and so far, the only movies where he’s been good at acting are the ones he directed himself and those of his pal Kevin Smith (though in the latter he wasn’t really acting but merely being himself). So since he won’t be directing Bats vs. Supes, apprehensions about this casting choice are quite legitimate. Also, we all remember too damn well the infamous Daredevil debacle, though he was not the only guilty party. Still, I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and I’ll go see the movie anyway, but you have to admit it’s hard to be enthused by the news.
