Pixar’s ‘The Good Dinosaur’ Extinct Already?

THE GOOD DINOSAUR

Not quite. At the end of August we reported that Bob Petersen, co-director of UP, had been removed from his directorial role on Pixar’s THE GOOD DINOSAUR project. Unfortunately the animation has been hit with more bad news, as it’s been revealed that its scheduled release date has been moved from 30th May 2014 to 25th November 2015 – a full 18-months difference.

We imagine this reshuffle has come about because of the director issues, but this change of date also means that 2014 could be the first year since 2005 that a Pixar film hasn’t been released. THE GOOD DINOSAUR’s move has also meant that the FINDING NEMO sequel FINDING DORY has been moved from its November 2015 date to 17th June 2016. However, reports are speculating whether Pixar’s next scheduled release, INSIDE OUT, will be moved from its June 2015 date to fill the 2014 gap. We’ll have to wait and see.

Over on the Disney side of things, MALEFICENT has been shifted from its original July 2014 release to THE GOOD DINOSAUR’s May date. At least we’ll get some sort of Disney action next year!

It’s good that Pixar are taking their time with their projects, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it was announced that DreamWorks had had a bit of a reshuffle, considering they’re ‘rivals’ and all…

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
