Robert Rodriguez’ 2010 action-exploitation film MACHETE was crazily violent, violently crazy and just plain insane. It was also rather amusing that Danny Trejo was returning to the character he first played in SPY KIDS, a film which literally couldn’t be more different to this blood-soaked rampage. It should delight fans of the original then that the forthcoming MACHETE KILLS looks to be more of the same and then some; indeed, no regular average Joe of a movie would feature a crotch gun triggered with pelvic thrusts. The sequel is set to screen tonight at Fantastic Fest so we’ll be getting some first reactions appearing very soon.

MACHETE KILLS stars Trejo alongside Sofia Vergara, Michelle Rodriguez, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demian Bichir, Alex Vega (also of SPY KIDS fame), Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding Jr., William Sadler, Marko Zaror and Mel Gibson. It hacks its bloody way into cinemas on 11th October.
