Fox Developing ‘Gotham’ Television Series Focussing On James Gordon

James Gordon

Only one day after Marvel’s AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D has aired over in the US, it’s been announced that Warner Bros TV has secured a deal with FOX to develop a television series focussing on a young James Gordon in Gotham City before meeting Batman.

Deadline has word that the programme has already been given a series commitment with THE MENTALIST creator Bruno Heller producing it for Warner Bros TV and FOX. Although Warner Bros has only been successful on the big screen with Batman and Superman you cant say they aren’t fully exploiting their vast array of characters on the small screen with ARROW about to start its second season and THE FLASH also in development. Here’s the brief plot synopsis from Deadline for GOTHAM:

‘It explores the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains who made Gotham City famous’.

Well the series definitely sounds promising and the idea of seeing some of Batman’s famous rogue gallery in their youth sounds very tantalising, here’s hoping some of the A-list villains will appear to cause James Gordon some trouble such as The Riddler, Harvey Dent or maybe even The Joker.

James Gordon was famously played by Gary Oldman in Christopher Nolan’s DARK KNIGHT trilogy and by the late Pat Hingle in the original series of films that ran from 1989 to 1997. It’s unknown at this point who will play Gordon and when we can expect to see the series on our television screens but we’ll be sure to update you with any more news on this very exciting project.
