New UK quads have surfaced for two much-anticipated efforts still to hit cinemas in the coming weeks.
First up we have Danny Trejo back as the Mexican mercenary MACHETE Cortez in the action sequel slated for both US and UK cinemas for the 11th October!
In MACHETE KILLS, Danny Trejo returns as ex-Federale agent MACHETE, who is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man – he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.
MACHETE KILLS co-stars Charlie Sheen, Sofia Vergara, Alexa Vega, Elle LaMont, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Demian Bichir, Zoe Saldana, Edward James Olmos, Elise Avellan, Electra Avellan, William Sadler, Lady Gaga, Vanessa Hudgens, Antonio Banderas, Marko Zaror, and Mel Gibson.
Next is the all-star sci-fi adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s iconic children’s novel, ENDER’S GAME, which is being brought to the screen by Gavin Hood.
In the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Mazer.
Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is recruited to join the elite. Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult challenges and simulations, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.
ENDER’S GAME stars Asa Butterfield, Harrison Ford, Hailee Steinfield, Abigail Breslin, Ben Kingsley and Viola Davis. It hits cinemas 25th October in the UK and 1st November in the US.
Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
