Things have been pretty quiet on Warner Bros. reboot of Edgar Rice Borroughs’ iconic literary hero TARZAN. Last we heard, Alexander Skarsgard was set to play the vine-swinging king of the apes and that still looks solid as we now have news on the love of his life Jane and the man he could be up against in the film expected to be directed by HARRY POTTER regular David Yates.

Two-time Oscar-winner Christoph Waltz is in final negotiations to play the main antagonist – a Belgian soldier named Captain Rom – who is said to want the head of our hero in exchange for precious diamonds. How much this screenplay will stick with Rice’s source material is still unknown. As for the role of his true-love Jane, the studio are said to be looking at both Aussie actress Margot Robbie (soon to be seen as the leading lady of Martin Scorcese’s THE WOLF OF WALL STREET) and THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN’s stunning Emma Stone.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
