In recent interview, American Horror Story‘s rising young actor Evan Peters was asked about his upcoming role as Quicksilver in director Bryan Singer’s much-anticiapted return to the directors chair for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The time-travelling sequel, which will see mutants under threat of extinction from Boliver Trask’s (Peter Dinklage) robotic machines The Sentinels, will unite the younger cast of prequel X-MEN: FIRST CLASS with those of the Singer-directed original duo and subsequent sequels/spin-offs.
Peters confirms his fast-paced character’s ability will be motion-captured while admitting Singer has a lot of say in the franchise.
They used motion capture. I don’t know what I can say about it and not get in trouble, I really don’t. But they shot a lot of slow motion. They brought in an amazing camera, the Phantom – it’s, like, 3600 frames per second. They brought in these huge, bright lights and did some amazing, amazing stuff with it. I’m excited to see it all cut together and check all that out. It’s going to be really cool. Bryan Singer has a lot of creative freedom on these X-Men movies – he can do pretty much whatever he wants with them. There’s always that risk, but I think at the end of the day, you want to try to make the best movie you can. You kinda gotta go with your gut on that.
Having seen the awesome trailer during Comic-Con in July, I can honestly say X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST looks a very mature comic-book adventure with the underlying political and social commentary more evident than we’ve seen previous.
The film stars Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Boo Boo Stewart, Adan Canto, Evan Peters, Josh Helman and Lucas Till. It’s slated for cinemas 23rd May 2014.

“Bryan Singer has a lot of creative freedom on these X-Men movies – he can do pretty much whatever he wants with them.” Oh, so that’s why he completely fucked up the characters and chronology…
