Sullivan Stapleton The Latest To Be Linked To ‘Star Wars VII’

Soon to be seen as the heroic General Themistocles in Warner Bros. forthcoming side-sequel 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE, rising Aussie actor Sullivan Stapleton (best known for his supporting role in the outstanding and intense true crime drama ANIMAL KINGDOM) is the latest actor to be linked to a possible role in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII. While rumours of Saoirse Ronan’s audition have now been confirmed by the actress (although we’re still unsure if she has won the part), a host of names reading for roles are beginning to filter through.

Stapleton may have indeed read for a major role in the film, while his growing ‘action-man persona’ may well fit the bill for a “roguish hero”  in the Star Wars universe – much like Harrison Ford’s Han Solo. Apparently he’s said to be doing himself no favours by openly talking up his possible inclusion. Disney and Lucasfilm are said to be not at all happy that he’s let slip he could be involved. Does that mean the unknown part was/is his before his actions?

As ever, we’ll keep you in the loop and as soon as official casting is announced we’ll bring you the news!

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams and is slated to shoot in January for a release in 2015.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
