Following today’s sad announcement that author Tom Clancy had died at the age of 66, it appears Paramount Pictures may have crassly jumped the gun in releasing the first teaser poster for their franchise reboot, JACK RYAN: SHADOW RECRUIT (formally SHADOW ONE). Kenneth Branagh is at the helm of the new action-thriller led by STAR TREK’s Chris Pine and charts the early beginnings of Ryan’s Moscow-based financial analyst-turned heroic government operative.
Branagh is also in front of the camera as Ryan’s shady Russian boss, plotting to finance a terrorist attack designed to collapse the US economy.
JACK RYAN: SHADOW RECRUIT is currently slated for US cinemas 25th December and the UK Boxing Day. It co-stars Keira Knightley, Colm Feore, Nonso Anozie, David Paymer, Peter Andersson, and Kevin Costner.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
