More goodies from the much-anticapted remake of Brian DePalma’s classic 1976 adaptation of Stephen King’s horror novel CARRIE. Another television spot and Japanese poster have surfaced from the contemporary take on the troubled telekinetic teenager Carrie White and her new found supernatural ability, which will used to its full potential come prom night.
However, more excitingly is news that Sony and Screen Gems’ reboot, directed by BOYS DON’T CRY’s Kimberly Pierce, has filmed five alternative endings. Four of which have been used in test screenings to see which scored highest and another secret climax that will be used if those are not impressive enough. I didn’t want to post details of those endings because – (a) I wouldn’t like to spoil the film for those looking forward to seeing it and (b) I don’t want to bloody know myself. So, for those interested and not worried about how the film comes to its surely shocking conclusion, you can find details over at veryaware.com. I’m sure all five endings will appear on the home entertainment release but will any of them be able to top DePalma’s heart-stopper?
A reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White, a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother , who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom. The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine, is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White and her daughter, Carrie. Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacherMiss Desjardin tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by thepopular and haughty Chris Hargenson but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell, regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross, to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.
Oh yes, that spot and poster…

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
