‘The Simpsons’ Renewed For Season 26

The SimpsonsIt looks like Fox president Kevin Reilly is on a roll with his animated TV shows as it was announced that THE SIMPSONS will live on for another season. It comes after the news that another animated Fox animated show BOB’S BURGERS had also been renewed.

Reilly gave his usual heartfelt statement about the renewal, saying:

“For more than a quarter of a century, THE SIMPSONS has captured the hearts and minds of fans in a way that transcends ages, languages and cultures. This groundbreaking series is not only the longest-running scripted show in television history, it’s one of the greatest sitcoms of our time, and I’m looking forward to yet another landmark season.”

The news of a renewal might be bittersweet for the hardcore Simpson fan, as it was also revealed by long time producer Al Jean that a major character will be killed off in the show’s new season. He kept tight lipped about the character, but he did say:

“I’ll give you a clue that the actor playing the character won an Emmy for playing that character, but I won’t say who it is”

25 actors have won an Emmy for their voiceover work on THE SIMPSONS since 1992, including Dan Castellaneta (who voices Homer) and Nancy Cartwright (the voice of Bart) so that narrows it down doesn’t it?
