Joe Doucett Looks Back At 20 Years Of Torment In New ‘Oldboy’ Viral Image

Director Spike Lee’s remake of Chan-wook Park’s controversial thriller OLDBOY is going to have to pull off something very special if it’s to remain as memorable. Josh Brolin leads the film as advertising executive Joe Doucett, a man who one day is mysteriously kidnapped and held captive for 20 years with no reason as to why. That is until the day he’s released back into a world he longer understands. He becomes determined in tracking those responsible down, raging a one-man rampage in a quest for answers… but is he ready for the truth?

OLDBOY is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of Joe Doucett, a man who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement, for no apparent reason.  When he is suddenly released without explanation, he begins an obsessive mission to find out who imprisoned him, only to discover that the real mystery is why he was set free.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
