Yesterday saw us bring you the New York Comic Con poster for Spike Lee’s controversial remake of classic Korean head-twister OLDBOY. Today we’ve more goodies in the form of new mysterious fast-paced clip giving us the clues to the kidnapped Joe Doucett’s captor. The man wanted by the former advertising executive he reaps a 20 year-long revenge!
The clip has actually been released as part of a sweepstake promotion for a chance to win the actual hammer used by Josh Brolin’s Doucett in the thriller based on Chan-wook Park’s 2002 cult masterpiece. To enter, tweet @FilmDistrict a photo of a dumpling at your favourite restaurant with the hashtag #eattheclues. The contest ends on October 20th with a winner selected the following day.
Oldboy is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of Joe Doucette, a man who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement, for no apparent reason. When he is suddenly released without explanation, he begins an obsessive mission to find out who imprisoned him, only to discover that the real mystery is why he was set free.
OLDBOY co-stars Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley, Lance Reddick, Michael Imperioli, James Ransone and opens in US cinemas on 27th November and the UK 6th December.
Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
