Almost upon us is the second in Peter Jackson’s prequel trilogy of films adapting J.R.R. Tolkien’s iconic fantasy novel THE HOBBIT. THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG continues the adventure of the hairy-footed title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and thirteen Dwarves warriors, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage), on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the sub-titled fire-breathing dragon.
A brand new television spot boasting new footage has surfaced from Jackson’s epic sequel. Check it out!
THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG is released on the 13th December and co-stars James Nesbitt, Ken Stott, Elijah Wood, Lee Pace, Cate Blanchett, Ian Holm, Aiden Turner, Hugo Weaving, Benedict Cumberbatch, Luke Evans, Evangeline Lily, Orlando Bloom and Andy Serkis.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
