Powerful Trailer For ‘The Monuments Men’

Hitler was pretty awful all things considered, and while his most nefarious acts have been detailed before, one relatively unexplored area of his devilish plans involved the destruction of art. As Hitler made his way through Europe, he also made it his mission to destroy thousands of pieces of beautiful art. THE MONUMENTS MEN tells the story of a group of soldiers sent to rescue as much art as possible.George Clooney leads an all-star cast of dedicated men in a film which looks at the beauty of art, and how it is something to be cherished and protected, even when lives are being lost.

George Clooney directs, stars, and co-writes and co-produces with Grant Heslov, who you may remember from the Michael Crichton adaptation, CONGO. The two have worked together on the incredible GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK as well as the respectable comedy LEATHERHEADS. THE MONUMENTS MEN looks to be another good addition to their resumes, and with this cast I don’t see how they could go wrong.

THE MONUMENTS MEN is released 18th December and stars George Clooney, Matt Damon, Bob Balaban, Hugh Bonneville, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, and  Cate Blanchett.
