As previously discussed earlier in the week, the new animated series, Star Wars: Rebels, follows a fledgling rebellion as they fight against the increasingly powerful Empire that seek to hunt down and destroy the remaining Jedi Knights, set between STAR WARS: EPISODE III and IV.
Earlier today at New York Comic-Con, Disney/Lucasfilm revealed a visually stunning Soviet-esque propaganda poster, displaying an array of stormtroopers with text in an alien language, which we assume is saying something along the lines of ‘Join the cause!‘ or “Don’t close the blast doors…. to your heart. Fight for the Empire!”. Here it is, thanks to EW:
Below is the official synopsis for Star Wars: Rebels, courtesy of Lucasfilm, and I must say, it sounds as if it does the franchise some justice. What with Dave Filoni, Simon Kinberg, and Greg Weisman helming the series, I think we can expect good things:
Star Wars Rebels continues the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures. It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world. As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people. But there are a select few who are brave enough to stand up against the endless Stormtroopers and TIE fighters of the Empire: the clever and motley crew of the starship Ghost. Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, have thrilling adventures, and become heroes.
Lastly, but not least, is the rumours circulating out of Latino Review, that two possible titles for EPISODE VII include “Rise of the Jedi” and “Return of the Sith” which were titles suggested by George Lucas in his original proposal for EPISODE VII before Disney acquired Lucasfilm, remember though, they are just that, rumours – so take it with a pinch of salt, padawans.
