Yes you read that right folks, STAR TREK could be back on the small screen in the not so distant future. Sky News Entertainment reporter Joe Michalczuk recently said:
“Bob Orci just told me they’ve had a meeting with CBS to revive STAR TREK on TV. This made me very excited.”
Unfortunately, J.J. Abrams spoke on the matter a few weeks ago saying that the powers that be at CBS are just not interested in putting it back on television. It’s not confirmed whether Abrams would be attached to the project, especially as he’ll be busy over the next few years with STAR WARS: EPISODE VII and a sequel to STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS.

It was going to happen eventually, and Star Trek really belongs on the small screen. Whether it’ll be a continuation of the Abramsverse movies or something new, or something in the middle between Enterprise and Star Trek 2.0 would be pretty neat. To be honest, I don’t care.

What they should do is a solid show set in the original continuity of the franchise to keep the fundamentalist fanboys happy, so they let the rest of us enjoy Abrams’ revival in peace.
