MI6 Film ‘Section 6’ Sells Script For Big Bucks

Aaron Berg Section 6The unproduced screenplay, SECTION 6, written by Aaron Berg, sold for a whopping $1.2 million over the weekend after the script began a bidding war between rival studios. Universal came out on top and it seems as though the battle over Berg’s work is attracting some big names. Hugh Jackman, Justin Lin, and Brett Ratner have all shown interested, with the latter two presumably looking at directing the feature.

The script traces back the origins of MI6 to when it was set-up during WWI. It follows Sir George Mansfield Cummings, the first director of the organisation and the man who served as the inspiration behind the James Bond character M in Ian Fleming’s novels. It sounds as though we have an intriguing period piece that will give us a different take on the world of spies, but the interest of Lin and Ratner suggests an action orientated plot, whereas the material it’s based on sounds as though it’s something a little more serious.
