Yesterday saw the latest US poster from director Peter Segal’s forthcoming sporting rivalry comedy Grudge Match. It’s a fun-looking flick uniting cinematic boxing icons Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone two local Pittsburgh fighters – Billy “The Kid” McDonnen and Henry “Razor” Sharp – and now today De Niro land is first punch with his own retro character one-sheet.
The two fighters had scored a victory against the other during their heyday, but in 1983, on the eve of their decisive third match, Razor suddenly announced his retirement, going on to deliver a knock-out punch to both their careers. Now three decades later, a smart-mouthed boxing promoter, played by comedian Kevin Hart, offers them a chance to settle the score one and for all.
GRUDGE MATCH is set for release in the US on the 25th December and the UK 17th January 2014. It co-stars Alan Arkin, Kim Basinger and Jon Bernthal.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
