Fassbender Talks Reasons For Joining ‘Assassins Creed’

michael fassbender

The great Michael Fassbender is currently on the promo campaign for historical slave drama 12 YEARS A SLAVE which hits US theaters on Friday. However, when pressed on details surrounding his upcoming role in the big-screen adaptation of Ubisoft’s ASSASSINS CREED, which he’ll also produce, Fassbender reassured fans the project is still moving forward. He also explained his reasons for getting involved in the franchise he admittedly knew very little about.

That’s definitely happening. We’re just developing the script at the moment. I’d heard of it but had never played the game. I don’t have a video game player … that’s not what they’re called. [Laughs] I met up with the guys from Ubisoft and they told me the story behind it, and I thought it was very interesting – the idea of reliving memories.

The film is currently being rewritten by Scott Frank, from a previous draft by playwright Michael Lesslie, making plot details just speculation at the moment but Fassbender is expected to play a character named Desmond Miles.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

“…Fassbender is expected to play a character named Desmond Miles” a character, you mean THE character, this article was obviously written by someone who has never played AC either.

Obviously he wouldn’t pass for Altaïr, but mosdef, he would own Desmond, that pic screams it.
I wonder if Ezio will be in it or if they will make a sequel? It will be interesting to see their take on the game, but Ezio is the shiznik, you will not be able to go wrong with renaissance Italy and super charismatic studmuffin Ezio Auditore da Firenze, bellisimo.
