‘The Day Of The Doctor’ To Screen In 3D In Cinemas Worldwide

Approaching as fast as a speeding TARDIS, which is probably a terrible simile as TARDIS can travel to any point in time and thus speed is not as issue, the Doctor Who 50th anniversary feature length episode is almost upon us. With just over a month to go, it has been announced that the 75 minute episode, that sees David Tennant return to the role of The Doctor alongside current medical professional Matt Smith, will screen in cinemas worldwide at the same time as TV broadcasts. The episode will also be shown in 3D.

Countries getting in on the cinematic action include the US, Canada, Russia, Ireland, and Germany, along with a little place known as the UK, that apparently really loves the time-travelling alien with a PhD. The screenings will take place on 23rd November at the same time as the British television screening. Tickets will go on sale this Friday, 25th October at 9am.

Britain is leading the charge with 216 movie theatres showing the film. These include VUE, Cineworld, Odeon, BFI, and Picturehouse cinemas. 30 cinemas and 50 Russian cinemas will also be showing the episode, with BBC America yet to announce details regarding the availability of US and Canadian screenings.

New Zealand and Australian viewers can also get in on the action, but a little bit later on the 24th November, as their simulcast of the episode will be in the wee hours of the morning and simply an unacceptable time to visit the cinema. 106 cinemas across those two countries will show the episode.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
