Jackie Chan has some back-up for his latest Hollywood production SKIPTRACE in the form of Seann William Scott. The film will be directed by Sam Fell, providing us with his live-action debut. Fell is best known for directing animated features FLUSHED AWAY, PARANORMAN, and THE TALE OF DESPEREAUX, but Skiptrace will land him firmly in the realm of live-action martial arts. It may seem like an odd choice, but Chan’s comedic projects are often cartoony in nature.
Scott will play a fast-talking gambler, Connor Watts, who must help Bennie Black (Chan) find his daughter (Fan Bingbing), after she becomes trapped in a crime syndicate headed by Black’s nemesis. Watts must be brought back to Hong Kong to help in the investigation. Sounds like an action take on GET HIM TO THE GREEK, which for some reason doesn’t sound too bad.
Exclusive Media and Talent International Film Co. are co-producing the feature and certainly have some lovely things to say about Mr Scott. Exclusive Media’s c0-chairmen, Nigel Sinclair and Guy East, had this to say:
Being part of great movies such as ROLE MODELS, THE RUNDOWN and the iconic AMERICAN PIE franchise will position Seann perfectly as Jackie Chan’s co-star.
A sentiment that Talent International Film Co.’s President Esmond Ren shared:
We are very excited to have Seann on board this project, and know that his chemistry with Jackie will make for a unique pairing that has never been seen before. Seann is well loved by our Chinese audience for his stand-out performance in the AMERICAN PIE films, as well as his good looks!
Flattery will get you everywhere. SKIPTRACE is set to begin production on 13th January 2013.
