Following a vivid double of revenge-thrillers starring Ryan Gosling, director Nicholas Winding Refn recently confirmed his next film will be a horror titled, I WALK WITH THE DEAD. It’s well known the DRIVE director is a huge fan of the exploitation and “video nasties” period of the 1970s/80s and is currently set to produce a remake of William Lustig’s cult slasher MANIAC COP. As for his latest directorial effort, which is rumoured to star Carey Mulligan, the screenwriter is now confirmed as playwright Polly Stenham.

Stenham confirmed:

He’s got a lot of stick for doing films some people think are violently misogynistic.  So he approached me with the idea of doing something different.

And when asked if it’s going to be a straight-up gory slasher or a more psychological piece, she commented:

It’s going to have a bit of everything.

Are you excited for Winding Refn moving into horror?

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
