Clooney’s ‘The Monuments Men’ Delayed Until 2014

The Monuments Men

George Clooney’s THE MONUMENTS MEN has had its release date moved from December 2013 to early 2014.

Directed, co-written and starring Clooney, the film is based on a book written by Robert M. Edsel, with the plot focusing on a group of art dealers hired to retrieve works nicked by Nazis. Co-starring Matt Damon (ELYSIUM) , Bill Murray (THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL), Cate Blanchett (BLUE JASMINE), Jean Dujardin (THE ARTIST), Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey) and John Goodman (ARGO), this is one film we don’t want to miss.

So what’s the reason Clooney’s given for the delay?

“We just didn’t have enough time. If any of the effects looked cheesy, the whole movie would look cheesy. We simply don’t have enough people to work enough hours to finish it”.

The visual effects, right? Hmmm…or, as some have speculated, has the date been pushed back because they know the film (probably) won’t be nominated for any Oscars? Has some clever rescheduling gone on?

We’ll let you know when a new, official release date has been announced. You can watch the trailer here.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
