It wasn’t certain Martin Scorsese’s fact-based financial drama THE WOLF OF WALL STREET would make its slated US release of Christmas Day. The iconic Oscar-winning director was rumoured to be struggling in the editing room. However, Scorsese’s latest teaming with present muse Leonardo DiCaprio will indeed make its date… and allowing it to compete in this years Awards season.

THE WOLF OF WALL STREET tells the extravagant (and exaggerated) true-story of stockbroker Jordan Belfort (DiCaprio) during his rise up the corporate ladder and later fall from grace. Living the high-life, Belfort found himself involved in crime and corruption that landed him in prison.

The film will find itself up against still opposition with martial-arts fantasy 47 RONIN, boxing comedy GRUDGE MATCH, Ben Stiller’s THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY remake, Justin Bieber doc BELIEVE and all-star drama AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY. It hits the UK 17th January.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
