Trailer For Gondry’s Noam Chomsky Doc: ‘Is The Man Who Is Tall Happy?’

680x478

Michel Gondry’s semi-psychedelic portrait of the fabled MIT professor has released its first trailer. It’s a film that in all likelihood won’t be seen by many as it boarders on the fringes of public interest. Gondry’s renown has run dry in recent years with his last hollywood outing THE GREEN HORNET being almost universally shunned. That hasn’t stopped him from doing what he’s always done however and once again he’s back to try his hand at something different.

The film consists of an animated conversation with Mr Noam Chomksy another man with his gifted fingers in many pots. Chomsky has made an astonishing career as a professor, linguist, philosopher, cognitive scientist, political activist and media critic. A career that makes you sick to your stomach with self loathing and jealous vulnerability, yet one we can’t wait to have artfully rubbed in our faces. While principally biographical in nature, the film explores the subjects of Chomsky’s work and reconstructs them visually with Gondry’s abstract and beautiful animations.

It’s been almost a decade since Gondry’s most successful Hollywood project ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and it’s great to see him sinking his talented teeth into another feature that as usual promises to be something unique. Check out the trailer for IS THE MAN WHO IS TALL HAPPY: AN ANIMATED CONVERSATION WITH NOAM CHOMKSY below.

IFC Films will release the film in limited theaters on November 22nd.
