Hans Zimmer Adds Pharrell & Johnny Marr To ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Supergroup

Hans Zimmer

No, you’re not reading that headline wrong because Hans Zimmer, the main man behind some of the best soundtracks and compositions for the big screen is back, but this time with a musical supergroup that includes Pharrell Williams, Johnny Marr, Michael Einziger and Dave Stewart for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2.

Zimmer had this to say:

“Marc and I were talking about Spider-Man, and as the word got out, so many of our friends and musicians started calling us up, wanting to be a part of it, because they love Spider-Man.  That was the thing that united all of us – the great love for Spider-Man.  With all of these hugely talented people wanting to join us, it was Marc who said, ‘Why not start a band?’ Marc and I have had a great start jamming with everybody, and we still have a few surprises up our sleeve.”

Intriguing stuff! I still think this reboot for Spidey was a bit too soon after that dreadful end and all the emo but Garfield was a good choice and gave it a little stability. I’m hoping that they do a lot better with the new character representation after promising so much with The Lizard and really not coming through. Anyway, the music side sounds a lot of fun and hopefully not too GODZILLA in the late 90’s.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 will be released in theaters domestically on May 2, 2014, and international release dates commence April 16, 2014.

You’re calling out Spider-Man 3 on “the emo” yet you’re rooting for Garfield?! It makes no sense.
