After departing both remakes of THE CROW and HIGHLANDER over the last year or two, INTRUDERS and 28 WEEKS LATER director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo looks to be eyeing another remake. Sources in Tinseltown claim the Spanish filmmaker is staying in the horror genre for remake of Stephen King’s supernatural story PET SEMATARY, which is currently being developed over at Paramount Pictures and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura.
The novel was previously brought to the screen by director Mary Lambert in 1989 and centred on a family who discover their new home is located near to a cemetery that can bring back to life the buried creatures within. When tragedy strikes, a desperate father decides to take advantage, only to discover what comes back is never the same.
We’ll keep you posted as this comes together but more good news for horror fans on the scariest night of the year!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
