GET ON UP, the biopic on Godfather of Soul James Brown, has added two more members to its cast. First up we have a Blues Brother in the shape of Dan Aykroyd (well it wasn’t going to be John Belushi), who of course starred alongside Brown in THE BLUE BROTHERS. Aykroyd will play Ben Bart, a president of a New York talent agency. Next up we have Jill Scott, best known for her role in the Tyler Perry films WHY DID I GET MARRIED? and WHY DID I GET MARRIED TOO? She’ll be married once again as she has the role of Brown’s wife.
Directed by THE HELP’s Tate Taylor, and starring 42 star Chadwick Boseman in the lead role. Jez and John-Henry Butterworth’s script will track the singing legends rise from extreme poverty to fame and success. It may not have been his most flattering moment, but no musical biopic would be complete without exploring a bit of drug addiction, and I think we all want to see James Brown wielding a shotgun and yelling about someone using his toilet.
GET ON UP is set for a 17th October 2014 US release. It stars Chadwick Boseman, Clyde Jones, Nelsan Ellis, Dan Aykroyd, Jill Scott, Octavia Spencer, Viola Davis, and Lennie James.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
