Playing online casino games is entertaining. First, there is the thrill of wagering and waiting if it will be a win or a loss. If the money is too tight to gamble, the next best thing to playing is watching gambling-related movies. Several films on Netflix fall under that category, and we listed some of them for you to binge-watch.
Ocean’s Eleven
It is the first part of the Ocean’s trilogy and a reboot of the 1960’s film of the same title. This 2001 remake is star-packed. Some of the actors in the movie are Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Matt Damon, and Andy Garcia. George Clooney plays the role of Danny Ocean, who was recently out of prison on parole. He met with a friend, Rusty Ryan, played by Brad Pitt, and proposed to rob three casinos, namely MGM Grand, the Mirage, and the Bellagio. They recruit more people, which makes them a team of eleven. If you also love heist stories like the famous Money Heist Netflix series, you will love this film. It will satisfy both your casino and heist interest.
Croupier
Croupier is another gambling and heist-themed movie to stream on Netflix. This 1998 British movie starred Clive Owen, an aspiring writer who ended up becoming a croupier. While most casino films revolve around the lives of the players, this one focused on the life of a dealer. Follow the main character, Jack Manfred, as he lands a job as a croupier to make ends meet and ends up being involved in a planned robbery. You will be surprised knowing at the end that everything was planned, from his job interview to get the position as a casino dealer to him being part of the heist. Of course, his father had something to do with that.
21
It seems that gambling and stealing go hand in hand in movie themes, and 21 is another movie that falls under that. This 2008 film was based on a true story and was a box office hit. Jim Sturgess plays the part of Ben Campbell, an MIT mathematics major at the Harvard Medical School. The high tuition made him apply for a scholarship with tough competition. According to the director of the scholarship, he will give it to the one who will dazzle him. Ben’s professor, Micky Rosa, was impressed by his high grades, so he included Ben on his blackjack team. They try to win the game using their math skills. The group played in Vegas and won games. However, there were betrayals along the way. In the end, Ben and some of the members and his old friends made some great wins.
Rounders
Matt Damon starred in this 1998 film about a law student named Mike McDermott, who is also an exceptional poker player. His goal is to play and win the prestigious World Series of Poker. However, his overconfidence led him to lose all his money. He promised his girlfriend, after that, never to play poker again. Mike got a part-time job and focused on his studies. However, when his friend Lester Murphy came out of prison, he started playing poker again to help pay Murphy’s debt. There were some losses along the way, including breaking up with his girlfriend, but the story ends with him winning a lot of money, more than enough to pay all debts owed. He also followed his dream to compete at the World Series of Poker.
Prepare your popcorn and drinks, and have fun binge-watching these gambling-themed movies on Netflix.
