Jason Bateman To Direct Nicole Kidman In Bestselling Novel ‘The Family Fang’

Jason Bateman To Direct Nicole Kidman In The Family Fang

Not one to rest on his laurels, Jason Bateman is now set to direct his second project. The ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT star will direct Nicole Kidman in an adaptation of Kevin Wilson’s bestselling novel The Family Fang (2011).

The story follows the Fangs, performance artist parents who use their kids (mysteriously called Child A and Child B) in their work. and what happens when the two children return to the family fold as adults.

Bateman is also tipped to star in the feature, as is Nicole Kidman (who will produce). BAD WORDS (2013), Bateman’s debut comedy picture, received rave reviews at the Toronto International Film Festival and is being distributed worldwide by Focus Features in 2014.

Kidman’s inclusion also brings kudos to the planned project. Her intense performance in RABBIT HOLE (2010) gained her an Oscar nomination. She’s been really busy with her production company, Blossom Films; we reported recently how she plans to produce another adaptation of a bestselling page-turner, A. S. A. Harrison’s The Silent Wife here.

Is she taking on too many projects? Only time will tell.

When not doing either of these things she can usually be found polishing her Star Trek DVD boxsets. And when she can actually be bothered she writes fiction and poetry that pops up on the web and in print. Her favourite film in the whole world, ever, is BLADE RUNNER.
