Curb Your Enthusiasm regular director Larry Charles has found his latest comedic project in a film adaptation of Bill Bryson’s best-selling novel A WALK IN THE WOODS. Charles, who’s best known for helming Sacha Baron Cohen’s trio BRUNO, BORAT and THE DICTATOR, has terrific cast already in place with Robert Redford and Nick Nolte set to lead the film which has a script by Oscar-winner (and STAR WARS: EPISODE VII contributor) Michael Arndt.
Shooting is targeted for March and the comedic plot centres on an ageing writer’s road-trip after deciding to hike the 2,000-mile Appalachian Trail. Bringing along his former high school pal despite avoiding him for years.
Speaking about the project, Charles said:
Growing up in the wilds of Brooklyn, you can see why I was the natural choice to direct A Walk In The Woods. I didn’t see a tree till I was 27. I’ve pitched a lot of projects, but I’ve never pitched a tent. But A Walk In The Woods is not merely about a hike. It is an epic, intense, absurd journey through our collective past, present and future. A journey outward and inward. A journey into darkness but also into the light. And I am honored and humbled to take that walk with Robert Redford and Nick Nolte. Two true bonafide icons of American cinema. Does anyone have bug spray?
