In “unexpected musical” of the day news, Canadian musician Alanis Morrissette has made the announcement today that she will be developing her 1995 album JAGGED LITTLE PILL into a Broadway musical.
The musical, which will also be called JAGGED LITTLE PILL, will have the same manpower that brought Green Day’s AMERICAN IDIOT to life, with Tony and Pulitzer winner Tom Kitt providing arrangements for the musical, while Vivek J Tiwary will produce the musical alongside THE INFIDEL and TORMENTED producer Arvind Ethan David.
Morissette broke the news of the musical, saying she was looking forward to expanding the “deeper layers” of her third album:
“I look forward to taking the heart of JAGGED LITTLE PILL and expanding its story, fleshing it out into ever deeper layers of emotionality, specificity, humanity, power, physicality, spirit and fabulism. I look forward to collaborating with Vivek and Tom and our whole inspiring team to create something greater than the sum of our parts.”
JAGGED LITTLE PILL is set to make its workshop debut in 2014.
