Meet ‘The Machine’ In Fantastic New Trailer For Sci-Fi Thriller Starring Caity Lotz

It’s not often a performance in an indie sci-fi flick gets award recognition. However, rising beauty Caity Lotz (also impressive in her breakout horror THE PACT) is getting just that after being nominated for a British Independent Film Awards at this weeks prestigious event. All for her upcoming role as a emotionless robotic killer.

Lotz leads the violent futuristic thriller as THE MACHINE – a government-created cyborg named Ava (or to give her an official title “artificial intelligence expert”) with a ruthless set of skills. British actor Toby Stephens (soon to be seen leading Michael Bay’s high-seas adventure series Black Sails) plays her creator Vincent McCarthy in the film directed by Caradog James.

Two computer programmers fall in love as they create the first ever piece of self-aware artificial intelligence, which is designed to help humanity. But things go wrong when the MoD steal their breakthrough and teach it to become a robotic weapon.
