Batman’s former sidekick Dick Grayson AKA Nightwing has been in the news alot recently following rumours that the character will appear in the upcoming MAN OF STEEL sequel BATMAN VS SUPERMAN from Zack Snyder. Now actor Steven McQueen has sparked off rumours that he will also portray the character on the small screen in the CW’s ARROW.
This season ARROW producers have announced that THE FLASH will be making his debut in the form of GLEE’s Grant Gustin before potentially receiving his own spin-off series. Now it would not be at all surprising to see Nightwing appear on the show after it has introduced numerous DC Comic’s characters already such as Huntress, Deadshot, Deathstroke and Black Canary. This is in addition to frequent references to Green Lantern and Ra’s al ghul who have been played by Ryan Reynolds and Liam Neeson on the big screen.
Now here’s where McQueen comes into the equation, almost a week ago the VAMPIRE DIARIES star posted this image to his twitter page with the caption ‘Nightwing training’:
Now obviously McQueen could just be a fan of Nightwing and decided to have a little joke with his twitter followers, however the plot then thickened when he tweeted this:

This makes things a bit more interesting, especially because he tagged the ARROW writers in the tweet. Did he have an informal talk about a guest appearance of some sort on the show or is he indeed in official discussions to bring Nightwing to the small screen?. He certainly has connections within the CW thanks to THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and would fit the role alot better than the rumoured candidates for BATMAN VS SUPERMAN. Nightwing would also fit better on ARROW rather than cramming him into the already jam-packed MAN OF STEEL sequel, although if true this would mean that the film and television universes were definitely seperate which would be disappointing. It remains to be seen whether McQueen is really in talks for the role or if he is just campaigning for it to happen but we’ll update you with any more news on this intriguing story as we get it.
