‘Star Wars’ Characters To Appear In ‘The Lego Movie’

LEGO Star Wars

THE LEGO MOVIE already has a pretty packed cast of characters, with plenty of original creations starring alongside historical figures including Abraham Lincoln and William Shakespeare and DC superheroes Batman and Green Lantern.

And now a report from The Wall Street Journal says that multiple STAR WARS characters are also set to appear in the film from the directors of CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS.

This is a slightly unprecedented nugget of news, as the project comes from Warner Bros Studios – hence the DC characters. Clearly there’s been some mixing of licenses to get this off the ground, and as the project has been in the works for a while now, it’s likely that Warner struck a deal with Lucasfilm before Disney bought the brand from George Lucas in 2012.

While specific characters aren’t mentioned, rumours are circulating that Michael Daingerfield has been cast as the voice of Han Solo. And if Han’s set to make an appearance, surely Chewbacca can’t be too far behind…?

THE LEGO MOVIE, directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, stars Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Channing Tatum, Cobie Smulders, Morgan Freeman, Will Arnett, Jonah Hill and Liam Neeson, and is due for release on 14th February 2014. In the meantime, check out the latest poster.
