He’s one of the most memorable British star of the stage and screen and we’ve got the first trailer for Peter O’Toole in KATHERINE OF ALEXANDRIA.

The legendary actor who shot to stardom after his portrayal of T.E. Lawrence in LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, joins a star-studded cast in one of the biggest British Independent productions for decades. The film tells the remarkable story of Katherine of Alexandria and her link to Constantine the Great. Katherine, the patron saint of scholars, was officially removed from the Catholic calendar in 1969 only to be reinstated in 2002 by Pope John Paul II.

Peter O’Toole plays palace orator Gallus, alongside Romanian newcomer Nicole Keniheart who plays the persecuted Katherine. The cast also includes Joss Ackland, Steven Berkoff, Edward Fox and Samantha Beckinsale in the film directed by Michael Redwood. Check out the trailer below:

There are obviously religious issues a-plenty here, but it’s also intriguing historical and is expected for release in 2014.
